This Fly and Flipper Tour is designed for people with mobility disabilities to enjoy along with those who are able. It allows you to experience the Abrolhos not just from the air but also from its beautiful waters. Including all the sights of the Abrolhos Flyover. We provide all the mobility equipment and personal supports to make your day excellent with our qualified team.
A full day experience, this tour departs at 9 am and returns at 3pm. Book your tour here and then select your equipment and supports on the next page. Make sure you bring water, hat, sun screen and shoes suitable for a beach walk.
We start the day by meeting either at your accommodation at 8.25am (if you would like transfer to the Geraldton Airport) or at the Shine Aviation terminal (Gordon Garrat Drive) at 8.40am. From there you will check in and board the light aircraft. From there we will fly over Geraldton and its port to the Abrolhos Islands which takes about 20minutes. We do a scenic flight with some commentary from the pilot about the history of the island group including the Batavia wreck story and the local fishing industry. We take in the Pelsaert, Easter and the Wallabi Island groups before landing on East Wallabi Island.
We assist your transfer from the airplane to the passenger assembly area. This area houses shade shelter, accessible toilets and facilities, tourism general information board. We bring a folding wheelchair designed to cater for use in the gazebos and along the board walk for you to use on the day. You can negotiate with us to bring your own chair if you should require. This will depend on the available space and weight restrictions on the plane on your tour date.
We take a short walk along the board walk to the first gazebo which is situated adjacent to the beach. From here we assist you to transfer into our beach wheelchair and take the commute to the Turtle Bay gazebo.
The walk is about 700-metres, of which 200m is board walk will take you to and along the beautiful beach of Turtle Bay before having morning tea. Then you can spend time snorkelling, having a relaxing swim or exploring this pristine environment before lunch (included in the tour price) is served. We assist you to transfer into and out of the water and with any other requests you may have on the day with our Leisure Buddy and beach equipment. We can also accompany you on to snorkel using our water scooters, designed to allow people with mobility to enjoy the activity with their family and friends.
Snorkelling equipment is provided along with a with lunch. (wetsuits are available if required)
At around 2pm we pack up, take the commute back to the landing strip and board the aircraft. We return to Geraldton disembarking at 3pm. If you have booked an airport transfer, we will drop you back to you accommodation.
Motorised transport is not currently available on East Wallabi Island.
